Brydens Sydney Uni Flames head coach Shannon Seebohm has been named the WNBL’s Coach of the Year after an outstanding first season with the Sydney side.

Saturday night saw the staging of the Sydney Track Classic. In one of the big upsets of this domestic season SUAC’s Ella Nelson was able to beat home the national record holder at 100m, Melissa Breen and the Olympic Champion in the sprint hurdles Sally Pearson.

Universities women’s cricket captain Alex Blackwell is one match away from a full suite of titles at state and club levels for the 2014-15 season.

Elite Athlete Program member Nicola Maitland has been named in the Under 23 NSW softball team ahead of the upcoming National Championships to be held later this year. She was selected in a squad of 13 girls and was named Co Captain of the team.

Sydney University athletes were well represented at the Rugby 7’s National Championships this week, with the NSW women’s team taking home gold.

Sydney University Rowing has demonstrated the calibre and strength of its club with eight athletes being selected to represent Australia at the 2015 World Rowing Cup, and Rowing Championships in 2015. 

Sydney Uni Basketball Club has had a busy summer of training and pickup and with students returning to campus last week, momentum for the club has continued to build. 

The weekend saw two outstanding performances from SUAC athletes in two different states. At the Queensland Track Classic Nick Hough continued his terrific season by breaking the NSW record in the 110 hurdles recording a time of 13.52 for the win. 

University of Sydney Freestyle Wrestling Club has taken home a number of medals after the State Championships held earlier this year.
