Since its inception in 1993, the Australian University Games (AUG) grew to be Australia’s largest annual multi-sport event.

Held each September/October, the Games were renowned for providing a friendly but competitive environment for Australian university athletes and is the flagship event on the national university sporting calendar. Please click here for the University’s 2017 results.

The Games were recognised as a perfect opportunity to provide university athletes to compete against each other in a national multi-sport event. As such, the Games built up a reputation as a not-to-be-missed event, attracting over 6,000 participants each year. Off the sporting field, an action-packed week-long social program complemented the sporting activities.

Each year the Games’ sporting schedule was made up of more than 28 individual and team sports. A number of sporting competitions are classified as qualification sports – the top teams qualify from the previous AUGs and the remainder qualified via the Regional University Games.

From 2018, the Australian University Games is no more and will be replaced by the UniSports Nationals. Read more about the new format here.
