The University of Sydney will be well-represented at the 29th Summer Universiade (also known as the World University Games) being held in Taipei, Taiwan from August 19-30, with a total of 17 students or club-affiliated athletes a part of the 2017 Australian Uniroos team. 

Sydney University Baseball Club’s Third Grade side has made it through to the grand final of the Sydney Winter Baseball League.

Sydney University Australian National Football Club stalwart Leigh McWhirter celebrated his 300^thgame for the club on Saturday, with a 77-37 win over Western Magic in Division Four of the Premier competition in Sydney.

Following their 19-17 loss to Ireland in the first pool match of the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup at University College Dublin, the Wallaroos suffered a 48-nil drubbing to France at the same venue on Saturday.

In their inaugural SEABL season, the Sydney Uni Sparks have advanced to the Eastern Conference preliminary finals after defeating the Nunawading Spectres in the minor semi-final. 

Despite missing a First Grade finals berth for the first time since 1997, Sydney University Football Club can still win six of the seven titles on offer in Sydney’s Premier rugby union competition.

The final game of the regular season was symbolic of the many trends the Lions faced throughout the year. With injuries plaguing the team before and during the game, errors and some questionable penalties the boys saw very little ball for large portions of the game against the bigger, more experienced Polecats side.
