Sydney University Football Club (SUFC), the Birthplace of Australian rugby which continues to breed many star Super Rugby and Wallaby greats, is teaming up with Australia’s World Champion gay rugby team, the Sydney Convicts, to once more help promote the message of diversity in sport and the community.

In a repeat of last year’s corresponding game, Manly again narrowly edged out Sydney University  to record a strong win in Round 2 of the Shute Shield at Manly Oval.

The Sydney Uni Bombers fought hard, but were in the end defeated by the Balmain Dockers on Saturday in round 1 of the AFL Sydney Women’s Football League. 

Sydney University’s Milly Jane Clark pulled off one of the upsets of the meet, at the National Track and Field Championships in Melbourne, after finishing too strong for Australian Olympic representative Victoria Mitchell, taking home the Australian 3000m steeplechase title.

Sydney University Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder Krystal Weir has finished 5^th overall at the first International Sailing Federation (ISAF) event of the European tour in Spain.

Sydney University 1^st Grade’s 25-18 loss to Manly in round 10 last season will still be very much front of mind for Sydney Uni’s young squad as the two club’s clash again in a round 2 blockbuster this weekend at Manly Oval.

The Sydney University men’s team have an excellent recent record over the Briars Hockey Club, and this continued over the weekend as a 3-1 victory lifted Sydney University above Briars into 6^th place on the Sydney Hockey Association ladder.

Sydney University opened their 2012 Shute Shield campaign with a clinical 49-19 win over West Harbour at Sydney University No.1 Oval on Saturday.
