It is rivalry round this Saturday, when Sydney University Football Club (SUFC) take on Randwick at home and it promises to be a huge contest across all the grades.

“The Club and the players always step up when it is Randwick week, with our two clubs sharing a healthy rivalry. Both clubs will want to come out on top on Saturday,” said Director of Rugby, Todd Dammers.

“The club as a whole is performing well in the earlier stages of the 2012 season and the players are settling into their teams and are really ready to match it with powerhouse clubs, such as Randwick. The loss in 1st Grade last weekend was disappointing, and 1st Grade has worked hard this week and will be ready to get their season back on track with a win this weekend against The Wicks.”

“Randwick is very good at maintaining possession and playing the support base game they are renowned for,” said Todd Louden, Sydney University Head Coach.

“This game will be the usual Uni verse Randwick arm wrestle and should be a cracker of a game, I encourage all our members and supporters to get down to No. 1 Oval on Saturday for a great game of rugby.”

“The club is very pleased to be hosting the Sydney Convicts again in 2012, for our annual Diversity Day,” said Baden Stephenson, Executive General Manager.

“The aim of Diversity Day is to promote the message of diversity and acceptance in sport and the local community, and SUFC is very proud to be working with the Sydney Convicts on this initiative.”

“An exhibition game of 7’s will be played between the Convicts and the Sydney University Barbarians (a team comprising 4th and 5th Grade players) during the 10 minute halftime window during the 1st Grade fixture,” commented Baden Stephenson.

“The Diversity Shield will be up for grabs, which the SUFC Barbarians won 24-5 last year.”

“The club will also welcome guests for the annual SUFC Foundation function, which will be held in a marquee on the western touchline, as well as a Buildcorp function in the balcony bar. Saturday promises to be a great day and we encourage supporters and their families to join us for a great day of rugby at The Birthplace.”
