Two members of Sydney University Women’s Rugby Club have been selected in the 26-strong Australian Wallaroos squad to contest the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup to be played in England next month.

Sydney Uni finished the final day of the Australian Short Course Championships’ meet with a gold medal in the Men’s 100m freestyle, 4th in the men’s 100m individual medley, 8th women’s 200m breaststroke and 13th in the 200 butterfly, and 15th in the overall pointscore.

Sydney Uni Swim club continued to produce strong performances in the pool. The highlights were the 50m butterfly final, 50m freestyle final, 100m individual medley final, 200m individual medley B final, 50m butterfly semi final and 50m backstroke semi final.

During Day 4, the swimmers continued with many personal bests and semi final appearances.

Sydney University’s belated surge to defend the Shute Shield took on added importance at Forshaw Park on Saturday when they ran in five tries to one to defeat competition leaders Southern Districts 43-10.
