On the back of all three teams finishing last in their respective competitions last year, the Universities Women’s Cricket Club (UWCC) has done the impossible this season and made the semi-finals of every grade they have a team in.

First and third grade, along with the Brewer (U17’S) team, have all qualified for this seasons semi-finals which will take place on the weekend of the 17th-18th March. Venues are yet to be confirmed.

In further news, two additional players from the club – Erin Burns and Kara Sutherland – have been selected to represent Australia in an U23 tour of New Zealand in a few weeks time.

This now takes the total number UWCC players who are current members of an Australian team (Alex Blackwell, Rachael Haynes, Erin Burns and Kara Sutherland) to four. This achievement is all the more remarkable considering there are only two Australian women’s teams (Australia and Australia U/23).
