The Students certainly saved their “A” game for the semi-final against their arch rivals “the Warringah Ratettes” in a comprehensive 45-24 win.

Despite a strong start where the team achieved many of their first 15 minute goals, the Students soon believed that this was going to be a walk in the park, giving away a 7 point lead and being down 5-12.

In the final 10 minutes of the first half, Uni built pressure through great field position and committed at the breakdown which saw Ash Hewson take advantage of a tired defensive line to level the scores just before halftime. The students saw this as a turning point as it gave them the belief that sustained pressure, field position and commitment at the breakdown (which was the halftime message) would result in the win needed to go through to the grand final.

The second half started as the first ended and the next 30 minutes saw the Uni girls pile on 33 unanswered points. The students’ back line was able to attack with confidence.

The Students now advance to the final, taking on Parramatta at 1:30pm at Grantham Reserve in Seven Hills.
