Opener Maddy Darke scored her third consecutive century in Universities five-wicket win over Parramatta in their Round 9 Sydney Women’s Premier competition match at Merrylands Park on Sunday.

Darke was run out for 105 with Universities needing just three more runs for victory. She posted five boundaries in her 129-ball knock and shared a 108-run partnership with Carly Leeson (48) and a 68-run stand with Olivia Porter (31).

In a prolific three Sundays, Darke scored 126 against Penrith on February 10, and followed that with 110 against Bankstown on February 17 before reaching three figures again yesterday.

Darke has tallied 596 runs from her 11 innings in First and Second grades and Twenty20 this season. She averages 85.1 overall and 103.5 in her five First Grade appearances.

Universities ended up with 5-225 with four balls to spare in reply to Parramatta’s 4-224 off their 50 overs.

Opener Phoebe Litchfield posted 109 for the hosts, with Hayley Silver-Holmes (45) and Kate Barry (33) the other main contributors.

Meanwhile, the NSW Men’s Premier Grade competition was hampered by wet conditions on Saturday, with no play at Glenn McGrath Oval where Sydney University Firsts were up against Sutherland on day one of a two-day match.

Sydney Men’s Premier Grade cricket competition – Round 14 (Two-day match)
