In what is building as “the game of the year” in the Shute Shield Sydney Rugby Union competition, Sydney University will take on competition leaders and 2011 Premiers Eastwood, in a Family Day extravaganza at University No. 1 Oval on Sunday 24th June.
Sydney University Football Club will be hosting an inaugural Family Day event at Sydney University No. 1 Oval, with many family-related attractions planned on the day, which includes:
• Animal Petting Farm
• Jumping Castle
• Face Painting
• Ice cream truck
• Tah Man (NSW Waratahs’ mascot)
Aside from the off-field attractions, Sydney University will be playing 4 grade games of rugby against Eastwood, with 4th Grade kicking off at 10:55am and the much anticipated 1st Grade game at 3:00pm. During half-time of 1st Grade, several minis rugby matches will be played on our historic ground comprising of players from SUFC Junior teams of Balmain, Canterbury and Petersham.
“I was really proud of how the team played in the wet conditions against Eastern Suburbs last weekend,” commented Head Coach Todd Louden.
“Eastwood this weekend, on a dry track, is going to be a tough game, but for the spectators on the sideline it promises to be another brilliant game of rugby. It will definitely be played in a similar vein to the Grand Final of 2011, heart stopping until the very end.”
Colts 2 will also play off in a top of the table clash with Eastwood, and with the Woodies Colts 1 side being Grand Finalists for the last two seasons this weekend of rugby promises to delivery some outstanding games across the grades.
“All Colts teams are preparing and focusing with a finals mentality in this weekend’s fixture at T.G. Millner on Saturday and we would welcome as much Sydney Uni support as possible on the sideline,” said Director of Colts Jack Farrer.
Due to the afternoon Wallaby Test Match on Saturday, times and days have been altered for all games this weekend.
