A host of SUSF & NSWIS Swimming Program of Excellence swimmers have performed strongly at the NSW Winter State Open Swimming Championships to ensure that Sydney Uni Swim Club finished second overall at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC).

Meagan Ramsay was the pick of the SUSC swimmers, winning all three of her races (400m IM, 200m IM and 200m breaststroke).

Te Haumi Maxwell, still at high school, won gold in the men’s 100m backstroke, before finishing second in the 50m and 100m freestyle.

Kazimir Boskovic, Nathaniel Romeo and Sam McConnell finished with five medals between them.

Sydney Uni also claimed gold in the men’s 4 x 100m relay and 4 x 100m freestyle relay.

SUSF & NSWIS Swimming Program of Excellence Senior Coach Scott Talbot was enthusiastic about his team’s results, particularly given that he and Head Coach Grant Stoelwinder were unable to attend the meet.

“We had some good results and full credit has to go to Leanne Thompson (Development Coach) for getting the job done without us there,” said Talbot.

Sydney Uni’s results were all the more impressive when you take into account the team was missing Andrew Abood, Hayley White, Melissa Mitchell, Keiran Qaium (Summer Universiade in Russia) and Matt Abood (World Championships in Spain).
