Sydney University Soccer FC women’s side couldn’t contain in-form Manly United at Cromer Park in round 12 of the NSW NPL on Sunday, 26 June.

Emma Stanbury scored what would be the students’ only match goal at the sixth minute, a spectacular shot curving from the corner.

Uni did well to prevent an early equaliser, with strong defence through to the break.

The home side found their reward in the second half at the 54th minute when Siemsen hit the ball on the half volley into the top left corner of the goal.

With the clock ticking away at 1 goal apiece, United’s ball got the best of Burke by way of a glancing header from Isabella Walker and closed the game at 2-1 to steal all three points against the Premiership favourites.

Manly United 2 (Siemsen 54’, Walker 85’)

Sydney University 1 (Stanbury 6’)

Sydney Uni women next take on Marconi Stallions FC at 3:00pm on Sunday 3rd July at Sydney University Football Ground.
