It all began with a twilight dinner set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sydney Opera House. This set the tone for an evening that would celebrate sport, community, and inspiration. From dinner to the court, the energy only intensified. Sydney Uni Handball was honoured to host two of the sport’s most celebrated figures, Dominik Klein and Isabell Klein, for a high-octane coaching session that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
Dominik Klein, 2007 World Champion, 3x EHF Champions League winner with THW Kiel, and veteran of 187 games for Germany, brought his world-class expertise and infectious enthusiasm to the court. Alongside him, Isabell Klein, European Beach Handball Champion, DHB-Pokal winner, and capped 91 times for Germany, shared her deep knowledge and passion, inspiring the next generation of athletes with every drill and word of encouragement.
Held at Sydney Uni Sport & Aquatic Centre (SUSAC), the session attracted over 50 players and spectators, all eager to learn from the best. The evening kicked off with engaging warm-up games and skill-building exercises, followed by a rotation through three high-intensity stations. Each station delivered non-stop action, with Dominik and Isabell offering real-time feedback and motivation that elevated the experience for everyone involved.
To cap off the session, Sydney Uni veteran Tomek Szklarski hosted a lively and insightful Q&A. His engaging style and deep understanding of the sport made for a memorable conversation, as the Kleins shared stories from their careers, training philosophies, and advice for aspiring athletes.
Sydney Uni Handball has a proud tradition of welcoming international stars, and the Kleins now join a distinguished list of elite athletes who’ve shared their knowledge with our community. Their visit reaffirmed the club’s commitment to excellence and its role as a driving force for handball development in Australia.
