Sydney University Basketball Club is on target to win the 2022 University Basketball League men’s and women’s titles after the men’s team collected the minor premiership and the women’s side finished second at the end of the season proper.

Sydney University’s men’s team will take on La Trobe University in a semi-final of the University Basketball League at La Trobe Sports Stadium this Tuesday, 17 May.

The Darlington campus boys collected the 2022 UBL minor premiership, going through the season undefeated to head the ladder on 30 points, with University of Technology Sydney (25), Victoria University (21) and La Trobe University (20) making up the top four.

The other men’s semi-final, between the University of Technology Sydney and Victoria University, will be played at the Victoria University Community Sports Stadium on Wednesday, 18 May.

Sydney University finished the 10-match season with a 97-89 win over La Trobe University last Monday and an 86-82 win over RMIT the following day.

Sydney University women’s side will meet Victoria University in a semi-final at Victoria University Community Sports Stadium on Wednesday, with minor premiers La Trobe University meeting the University of Technology, Sydney, in the other semi-final at La Trobe Sports Stadium tomorrow.

La Trobe finished the season proper on 30 points, with Sydney University (26), Victoria University (24) and the University of Technology Sydney making up the top four.

Sydney University finished the season with a 75-49 loss to La Trobe University last Monday and a 74-58 win over RMIT the following day.
