Universities Under 17 side played their way into the final of the Brewer Shield with a seven-wicket win over Campbelltown-Camden in their 40 overs-a-side semi-final at Raby Oval on Sunday.

The Students reeled off 3-161 in 33.1 overs in reply to Campbelltown-Camden 9-160 off 40 overs, with opener Claudia Johnston leading the way with 47 from 53 deliveries, including seven boundaries.

She shared a 90-run opening stand with Amy McKay (19) before Jade Christie (30 not out) and Maddy Darke (28 not out) put on a 62-run fourth wicket stand to seal the deal.

Campbelltown-Camden opener Jessica Langford had earlier led the way for her side after they had been sent in to bat. Langford hit nine boundaries in her 54-run stay before she was forced to retire.

Universities employed eight bowlers in the Campbelltown-Camden innings, with Jade Christie (2-22) and Jemimah Keelan (1-2) the pick of a miserly attack.

Northern District defeated St George-Sutherland by six wickets in the other semi-final to earn a berth against Universities in the final which will be played atBlacktown International Sports Park on Sunday, December 13, with a 10am start.

Universities Blue 4-193 off 38.1 overs (Katrina Serena 51 ret, Wendy Maxwell 37 not out, Malina Rumble 27; Renee Atkins 2-19, Brianna Fraser 1-20) defeated Bankstown 93 off 34.3 overs (Denbigh Morris 38, Ellie Newsome 25; Katrina Serena 2-10, Wendy Maxwell 2-11) by 100 runs, with two bonus points, at Grahame Thomas Oval on Saturday.
