2010 City2Surf women’s champion Lara Tamsett is not only looking to take out this year’s event but also to raise money for the Indigeneous Marathon Project.

Tamsett was unable to compete in last year’s City2Surf due to injury and in 10 days time she will be back out on the 14km course looking to be victorious once again.

One of her major motivations for running a successful race is the Indigenous Marathon Project (IMP), a charity that helps to change the lives of Indigenous Australians through running.

“Although there will be some tough competition this year, I have decided to raise funds for the charity Indigenous Marathon Project (IMP) to spur me on even more,” said Tamsett, who is part of the SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP).

“All the funds I raise will go directly towards IMP’s leadership scholarship program, which is used to assist past and present runners involved with IMP to further their education, help them to attend running camps, and to develop local running and walking groups and events.”

“This will in turn help to educate and empower other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to live an active, healthy lifestyle and decrease instances of preventable disease. Please help me support this great cause!”
