Making just their second appearance at the Australian University Games, held last month on the Gold Coast, the Sydney University Taekwondo Club contributed to the overall first place of Sydney University by finishing second.

Fielding a team of 21, the Club finished just behind the 30 strong contingent from Monash University.

The Club finished with 5 gold (Yunsi Feng, Kristine Salinas, Amar Sehic, Hadi Beydoun, James Diaz) and 7 silver (Yna Yin, Sydney Yang, Kristen Mann, Harry Jun, Megan Chan, SuJin Cho, Ivy Wang.) David Wong, Edward Asmadi, Nicole Park, Ryan Giles, Daniel Tjahjakartana, Samantha Parsons took bronze.

In poomse (pattern), SuJin Cho and Nicole Park both won gold.

“A big thanks goes out to our coaches at the games, Johnnie Lee, Arthur Lee, Zichuan Lim, and Richard Talisayon”, said Marissa Lam, Vice President of the Taekwondo Club.

“Our club has grown so much this year, and we are very proud of our competitors and supporters.”
