The Sydney University Netball Club has once again proven its dominance on the court, taking out the 2025 Winter Intervarsity Netball Competition in commanding fashion. Hosted by the University of New England in Tamworth, NSW, the three-day tournament saw USYD’s mixed team rise to the occasion, winning six out of seven games and securing the championship title for the fourth consecutive year.

Led by Charlie Hawkins (Captain) and Fraser Salmon (Vice Captain), the squad battled it out across Friday, Saturday and Sunday against tough opposition from Macquarie University, UNSW, UNE, and a North West NSW U23 representative side.

Despite one close result, Sydney Uni’s performance was nothing short of dominant. The team finished with a goal difference of over 200, a statistic that highlighted both their attacking firepower and defensive discipline.

“It was great to gel with the squad for the first time over the weekend and take home the win”, said Vice Captain Fraser Salmon.” Now, we shift our focus to our upcoming UniGames campaign, with the goal of winning back-to-back gold this year!”.

After clinching gold at Unisport National in the Mixed Division last year, the 2025 squad is shaping up to be a serious contender again, with plenty of depth, experience, and chemistry heading into the second half of the season.

The club’s continued success is a testament to its strong culture and commitment to excellence, both on and off the court. With the Winter Intervarsity now in the books, all eyes turn to the 2025 UniSport Nationals, where Sydney will aim to defend its national crown —and make it a year to remember.
