After three rounds of competition in the Treloar Shield, Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) lead the open division by 412 points having made a strong showing at the club’s home track of ES Marks Athletics Field on Saturday afternoon.

Conditions were challenging with strong winds at times and the temperature on the track well in excess of 40 degrees.

The standout performance of the weekend came from Josie Nichol who won the triple jump in a huge leap of 12.90 metres, which is only 5cm short of the SUAC club record which is especially impressive considering Josie is only 18 years old.

Nichol also went on to finish 3rd in the 100m. Not to stop there, she ran a cracking back straight in the women’s 4×100 where she teamed up with Gen Cowie, Georgina Pembroke and Courtney Schulz for the win to cap off a very strong afternoon.

The other standout performance of the day was from Jin Su Jung who ran a personal best of 10.40 seconds in the 100 metres for the win. Jin also contested the shot, javelin, high jump and 4×100 for SUAC bringing home a swag of very valuable points for the club.

Other wins on the day came from Chrissie Grun in the javelin, Maddie Bergfield in the shot put, Nicole Fagan in the 5000 metre walk and Darien Willaims inn the 800 metres.
