Sydney University’s climb up the North West AFL ladder continued at the weekend with their fifth win on the trot elevating them to fourth place.

The Lions trounced Ainslie by 95 points at Henson Park on Saturday, placing them ahead of Northern Territory Thunder, on percentages, on the fourth rung of the ladder.

And they could claim outright fourth place when they host the Thunder at Henson Park this Saturday.

UWS Giants still head the NEAFL ladder on 32 points, on percentages, from Aspley (32) and Sydney Swans (28), with Sydney University and NT Thunder both on 20.

Tim Barrett led the scoring against Ainslie with five of Sydney University’s 22 goals, while Damien Bonney kicked four, Jacob Derickx kicked three, and Sam Fong, Tom Young and Jack Campbell each booted two.

Meanwhile, Sydney University Bombers maintained the lead in the Sydney Women’s Premier competition with a 47-point win over Macquarie University at St Paul’s College Oval on Saturday.

Libby Saddler kicked four goals for the Bombers in the 64-17 win, with Stephanie Walker, Rachael Stack, Krysten Winkley, Sera Kaukiono and Emma Yuen also turning in strong performances.

Sydney University head the ladder, on percentages, from Newtown Breakers, with UNSW-Eastern Suburbs Stingrays and Western Wolves making up the top four.
