The Sydney Uni American Football Club look to be once again heading towards another NSW title, after securing the NSW Waratah Bowl minor premiership with a hard-fought 15 point victory over the second-placed Western Sydney Pirates.
Playing at Craik Park in Austral on Saturday night, the Lions led 14-12 at half-time. In the second half it was the defence and special teams who stepped up and allowed Sydney Uni to close out the game, finishing as 27-12 winners in torrential rain.
The Lions, 11-0 for the 2013 season, have now won their last 94 games and the past 10 NSW Waratah Bowls.
On Saturday the Lions finish off the regular season with an encounter against second-last placed Newcastle Cobras at 3pm in Revesby.
