Six of Sydney Uni Boat Club’s (SUBC) athletes claimed medals at World Cup Rowing 3, helping Australia be crowned the World Rowing Cup Champions with another top of the table performance.

The effort backed up a dominant display at the World Cup Rowing 2 event, which saw Sydney Uni athletes contribute four of the nation’s 11 medals.

Jack O’Brien, Jack Hargreaves and Nick Purnell again found themselves with gold wrapped around their neck, powering home for a dominant win in the Men’s Four, while Fiona Ewing and Rowena Meredith won bronze in the Women’s Quadruple Scull.

Gen Horton fought valiantly in the Women’s Double Scull, trading the lead with Romania on numerous occasions in the last 250 metres while battling some tough conditions before finishing with silver.

Meanwhile, SUBC also achieved tremendous results while representing Australian Universities against Combined New Zealand Universities in the annual Trans Tasman Rowing Challenge as the Men’s Eight team spearheaded the victory with a 3/3 success rate.
