Sydney University Women’s Water Polo Club (SUWWPC) representatives Keesja Gofers, Hannah Buckling and Lea Barta have helped the Australian women’s water polo team to a 15-4 victory over New Zealand in their first outing at the 2013 FINA Aquatic World Championships.
The Australian team proved too strong for Group C rivals and trans-Tasman neighbours New Zealand, producing four consistent quarters of water polo to take an 11 goal victory.
Gofers and Buckling (SUSF Elite Athlete Program scholarship holders) proved be threats all game, with both players scoring a goal for the Stingers in Spain, while Barta was solid in goal.
