Sydney University athletes Tom Jacobs, Alex Podgorski and Lara Rotrakarn all picked up medals on day 2 of the Australian University Snow Sports Championships at Mt Buller to push Sydney Uni’s medal tally for the week to eight.

Sydney Uni’s dominance was so profound that the Uni’s third skier finished 4th in the same event. In the women’s slalom Sydney Uni produced some solid results with the teams top three girls finished 6th, 7th and 10th.

Lara Rotrakarn medalled in the women’s snowboard rails event picking up silver for her troubles. In the men’s snowboard event Elliot Fielder, the youngest member of the team, just missed out on the final by finishing 4th. Eliza Graham also finished a respectable 4th with Eilish Sheerin coming in close behind in 5th in the women’s rails.

On day three the cross country was the only event run as the wind caused havoc on the mountain, getting up to 140km/hr in some parts. Sydney Uni’s best performances belonged to Ben Chapman and Emma Scriven, who both finished 12th in their respective races.
