Sydney Uni’s  Ali Visch played his 319th National Water Polo League (NWPL) game, equalling the current record, yesterday against the Balmain Tigers in the NWPL Finals Series at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre .

Visch will now reach a remarkable milestone of playing the most NWPL games this afternoon as the Lions playoff for 5 & 6 positions, against the minor premiers – the Victorian Tigers.

During the Finals Series, teammate and Olympian Trent Franklin played his 300th National Water Polo League (NWPL) match, during which he scored two goals to take his career tall to 584.

Unfortunately, the Sydney Uni team was unable to make the elimination finals having drawn with the Victorian Tigers 8-8 and lost to the Fremantle Mariners 13-12 on Tuesday. And then lost to the Balmain Tigers 13-10, on Thursday.

‘Generally, the team played well. We controlled both games reasonably well, we just lacked some discipline. We have had a lot of Australian players return from Europe to join the team and we, therefore, also lack some continuity,’ said coach Damien Fanning.
