The Sydney University Rugby League Football Club’s (SURLFC) remarkable come-back season continues with its first division team finishing in second place at the end of regular competition.

The first division team is now one win away from making the 2014 Grand Final, which is a remarkable feat considering it’s the Lion’s first season back in the competition after an absence from the league.

The side takes on last year’s Premiers and this year’s Minor Premiers Sydney Trains, in the major semi-final at Norford Park, Sefton on Saturday 30 August 2014.

It has been 12 years since Sydney University last won a NSWTSRL first division premiership and the first division team is well placed to cap off a great comeback season.

The second division SURLFC team has been equally strong this year, finishing third in their division.  They also play Sydney Trains in the minor semi-final which will also be played at Norford Park.

The success of both teams has led to Sydney University finishing second overall in the Club Championship.

After not having fielded teams in recent years, the club and its supporters should be proud of SURLFC and how it has staged a successful comeback in 2014. This represents a strong foundation for the development of the Club to be competitive in future NSWRL competitions.
