Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) Executive Director Robert Smithies today announced a three year major naming rights sponsorship agreement between leading litigation firm Brydens Lawyers and the WNBL women’s basketball team, the Sydney Uni Flames.

“It’s an exciting development for the club and for SUSF,” said Smithies.

Sydney Uni Flames Head Coach, Karen Dalton said “The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames have been lucky enough over the years to have received tremendous support, the signing of this agreement today is a further step in the right direction and provides the club with plenty of momentum heading into the 2013/14 WNBL season.

“Brydens Lawyers’ sponsorship of the Flames shows their significant commitment to not only the current squad of Flames stars, but also future aspiring female basketball players. We can’t wait to begin working with the firm.”

Brydens Lawyers’ Principal, Lee Hagipantelis said the sponsorship confirms a long association with the University of Sydney and also Brydens Lawyers support of women’s sport.

“As a graduate of The University of Sydney and the father of three daughters I warmly welcomed the opportunity to formalise an association between my firm, Brydens and the Sydney Uni Flames,” explained Mr Hagipantelis.

“Having chauffeured my daughters for many years to various sporting events I am particularly aware and interested in the challenges facing women’s sports.

“The association of Brydens with the Sydney Uni Flames is a perfect fit. Both organisations commenced from humble beginnings and are now the leaders in their respective fields. The success of Brydens has been established on the basis of hard work and striving for excellence – qualities which I have the pleasure of seeing in the Sydney Uni Flames.”

SUSF President, Bruce Ross expressed his excitement and noted Brydens dedication to women’s sport and the Flames.

“We are extremely proud to have Brydens Lawyers on board, who have a shown real commitment to women’s sport and our team,” explained Ross.

“It is significant that Brydens Lawyers have chosen to back the Sydney Uni Flames, who will play their home games in our magnificent new stadium.”

SUSF Executive Director, Robert Smithies added “SUSF and everyone associated with the Sydney Uni Flames are thrilled to bring the firm on board and to create a team that will continue to be successful well into the future.”

Mr Hagipantelis agreed, saying “Brydens Lawyers are very much looking forward to a long and successful association with the Sydney Uni Flames.”

The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames will play their first 2013/14 WNBL home game in October at the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre in their brand new 1200 spectator capacity sports stadium.
