The Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC) appears to be one step closer to a successful beginning to the regular season, after a series of competitive 2014 SUANFC Carrera Preseason trial games took place across Sydney over the weekend.

With Sydney University’s NEAFL campaign set to kick off on April 5 against Queanbeyan, the senior squad staged a spirited intra club trial at Gipps Rd Oval in Greystanes. Many of the clubs new recruits impressed – none more so than Will Sierakowski and Matt O’Dwyer.

Sierakowski is fresh from AFL club North Melbourne’s list, while O’Dwyer has spent time on the Sydney Swans roster before he moved to Werribee in the VFL and most recently to Eastlake in the NEAFL. Both players are expected to be strong additions to Sydney Uni’s NEAFL team in season 2014.

The clubs division two and three sides (combined) had a good win over Holroyd Parramatta at Gipps Rd Oval, while a combined division 4 and 5 side were defeated by a strong North Shore outfit at Blacktown International Sportspark in Rooty Hill.
