Sydney Uni basketball continued their dominance on day two at the Eastern University Games (EUG), as both the men’s and women’s teams qualified for quarter finals.

The men had two comprehensive wins over Cumbo 53-22 and then UWS 2 67-42. The men now play the winner of NCLE and CSU2 in their quarter final tomorrow. The women had a well fought draw with UTS 30-30 to start the day. It was all tied up after they hit a three-pointer with three seconds on the clock thanks to Lauren Dwyer. The women now face ANU in their quarter final tomorrow.

The futsal teams continued to fight hard today. The men had a 1-0 win over Randwick Tafe but then lost their momentum with a late afternoon loss to UWS2 6-4. The women had two games in which they achieved their first win against ACPE 6-5, but then lost to a well drilled UNSW side 17-1.

Sydney Uni’s one and only golfer is still in fourth place and very much in the mix. Tim was just 1 over after the first nine but crumbled to finish with an 80. Tomorrow he is at his old home turf and should leap frog those in front of him.

Lawn bowls teams had a stacked day with four games each. They continue to struggle with the cold conditions. USYD lost 2-1 to CSU, lost to USYD2 2-1, beat UNSW 2-1 and lost to CSU4 3-1. The USYD2 side lost to CSU4 2-1, beat USYD 2-1, lost to CSU3 2-1 and defeated UTS2 2-1.

Netball played two and lost two today. For a team that was put together at the 11th hour they are certainly still showing brave faces amongst the defeats. Today they lost to UTS 11-60 and NCLE2 17-46.

Touch men lost two from two today. 4-1 to ANU and 4-3 to Cumbo. The mixed team continue to develop the hard way. They lost to UTS 16-1 in the morning. They were then defeated 6-3 by UNDA and finished the day with a loss to Cumbo 10-0. The women’s team look headed for gold as they smashed Cumbo 15-0 this morning and then took care of UTS 6-1.

The ultimate frisbee side had a tough day with two losses on the trot. They were beaten by ANU 15-6 in the morning and then lost a tight one 12-14 against UTS.
