Sydney University Australian National Football Club’s (SUANFC) Seniors, Reserves, Blues, Reds and Under 18 Colts all won their games last weekend for the first time this year.

The SUANFC Seniors beat second placed Western Suburbs by 15 points in a nail-biter on Sunday. The team’s Glenn Stevens and Alex Lee both played exceptionally while Nathan Hayward, Chris Walsh and Tom Young also played well.

Young, a Collingwood Football Club Scholarship Holder and Brydon Coles, a Sydney University Sports Scholarship Holder, both kicked three goals.

Prior to the game, the SUANFC Reserves smashed Western Suburbs Reserve grade side by 98 points – 128 to Western Suburbs 30.

This caps off a clean sweep for SUANFC as Saturday saw the club’s third grade side, the Blues, crush East Coast Eagle 167 to 33 and the club’s fourth grade side, the Reds, snatch victory by 14 points over the North-West Jets.

The club’s inaugural Under 18s Colts continue their winning ways, also beating East Coast Eagles by 190 points.

Jason McLennan, president at SUANFC, said the players hard work at training is paying off.

“These results mean all five of our teams are still in finals contention, an exciting prospect for the club,” he said.
