The Sydney Swans gave SUANFC Under 18’s players a taste of AFL life on Tuesday evening, putting the boys through their paces during a special one-off training session on Oval No 1.

23 Under 18’s players, a mix of returning and new, attended the session hosted by Swans stars Ryan O’Keefe, Dan Hennebery and Eugene Kruger, along with the Club Coach and former VFL/ AFL player Rod Carter.

During an intense 75 minute session, the young players took the opportunity to learn the finer points from some of the AFL’s most talented players, an experience none of them are likely to forget in a hurry.

In other news, the Co-Captains for the Club’s Inaugural season in the North East AFL have been announced.

Senior Coach Roger Moten anointed Alex Lee and Adam McConnochie into the roles of Co-Captains for season 2012.

The announcement was made to the entire senior group after Club training on Monday evening.

Moten said the decision to go with Co-Captains was evidence of the strength of the Club’s leadership.

“Ultimately, when you have two players that are as outstanding as these two are, both as players and leaders, the side can only benefit from this type of structure. This is equally as beneficial to Alex and Adam as individuals, in that they can share the responsibilities of leading the Club at this level,” said Moten.

Sydney Uni will debut in the NEAFL Cup in round one, when they take on the Hills Eagles on Sunday March 25.

Uni’s first home game of the season will be against Eastlake at Henson Park, Marrickville on Sunday April 1.
