The Sydney University Football Club (SUFC) have finished their six game Sesquicentennial Grand Slam Tour of the UK and Ireland, with a crushing 59-7 defeat of United Hospitals XV.

Staged in London in clear and pleasant conditions on Sunday night, the Students led 21-0 at half-time after tries to Al Ryan, Jack Marples and James Willan.

Sydney University stepped up the pace of the game in the second half and a series of second half tries to Tom Shaw, Josh Ellice-Flint, Harry Marples, Dane McCarthy, Duncan Boyd-Jones and Hugh Frazer extended the scoreline to 52-0. United Hospitals XV scored a consolation try, as the Students ran out 52 point victors.

Sydney University’s Ed Walgien become the oldest player to play in the blue and gold – at the tender age of 58.

With the Students final game against Rosslyn Park cancelled, SUFC finished the tour with a 4-2 win-loss record.
