7 SUANFC sides played away from home on the weekend, with the Plats, Golds, Reds and Bombers all registering important wins.
6th Grade Plats: Sydney AFL Division 5
The Plats took on 2nd-placed UNSW in a must-win battle at Blacktown on Saturday.
UNSW started the better of the two sides, jumping out to a 10-point lead at quarter time.
The Plats kicked into gear at the start of the 2nd quarter, kicking 3 goals to 1, as they regained the lead before the main break.
Neither side registered a goal in the 3rd, as the Plats missed their chance to open up a handy lead, kicking 4 behinds.
The final quarter saw both teams hit the scoreboard, but it would be the Plats who took the 4 points, registering their 6th win in 7 games.
Manning Begg and Chas Wilkinson were best afield.

5th Grade Golds: Sydney AFL Division 4
Up against 8th-placed UNSW, the Golds enjoyed a comfortable 108-point win following the Plats at Blacktown.
The Golds dominated the first half, with numerous players hitting the scoreboard as they lead by 43 points at halftime.
To further increase their lead, the Golds held UNSW scoreless in the second half, while piling on 10 goals of their own to win by the resounding 108-point margin.
Simon Ayling booted 5 goals, while Tim Lay and Paul Oscar shared 6 between them.
This week sees the Golds travel to Macquarie University for a Wednesday night clash, before ending their home-and-away season on Old Boys Day against UTS.
Final Score: UNSW 3.4 22 def. by Sydney University 19.16 130.
4th Grade Reds: Sydney AFL Division 2
The Reds recorded a well-deserved win over Western Suburbs at Picken Oval on Saturday.
Scores were level at quarter time following 2 goals each for both sides in the first quarter.
The Reds took control in the 2nd quarter kicking 6 goals, as they opened up a 4-goal lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw the Reds defensive pressure kick up a notch as the Magpies were unable to kick a goal.
Following an even last quarter, that saw both teams kick 2 goals, the Reds enjoyed a great win, and by doing so, moved to equal points with the Magpies on the ladder.
Jonathan Weir and Nick Lloyd were best-on-ground.
Final Score: Western Suburbs 6.7 43 def. by Sydney University 14.13 97.
U19 Colts: Sydney AFL U19s Division 1
The Colts suffered an 84-point loss at the hands on UNSW on Saturday, and now sit 1 game behind the Bulldogs on the ladder.
Outscored in every quarter, the Colts struggled to gain control of the game as UNSW hit the scoreboard frequently.
Xavier Nelson, Joe Stapleton and Rowdy Friend were among the best for the Colts who remain in the top 5 despite the loss, 1 game ahead of Pennant Hills.
Final Score: UNSW 18.10 118 def. Sydney University 5.4 34.
3rd Grade Blues: Sydney AFL Division 1
The Blues suffered their 2nd loss to St George this season, going down by 11 points yesterday at Olds Park.
A tight 1st quarter saw the Blues 1 point ahead at the first break, before St George opened up a 2-goal lead at the main break.
St George were able to maintain their lead throughout the 3rd, and ultimately the 4th quarter, as the Dragons moved 2 games ahead of the Blues on the ladder.
Sam Crichton, Liam Blue and Tom Whitaker were the best for the Students.
The Blues take on 1st-placed UTS this weekend in a season-defining clash that could see the Blues cement their finals spot, or fall out of the top 5.
Final Score: St George 7.10 52 def. Sydney University 6.5 41.
2nd Grade Reserves: Sydney AFL Premier Division
The Prems traveled to Olds Park on Sunday as they took on 2nd-placed St George.
Kicking the first 2 goals of the game, the Prems were in control before captain Tom Elkington suffered a game-ending concussion.
The Dragons stole momentum following Elkington’s concussion and kicked the next 3 goals to lead by 11 points at the first break.
The Prems fell further behind as the Dragons piled on a further 4 goals to 1 in the 2nd quarter.
Against the odds, the Prems outscored St George in the 3rd to cut the lead to 29 points at the final break.
In the end, St George ran away with a comfortable 51-point win after kicking the final 4 goals of the game.
Allister Clarke and Lachlan Maples continued their good form, while Jacob Swarts was strong down back.
Final Score: St George 12.18 90 def. Sydney University 5.9 39.
Sydney University Bombers (Women’s)
The Bombers traveled south to take on Power Wolves at Taren Point on Saturday.
From the first bounce, the Bombers dominance was clear, kicking 5 unanswered goals in the first half, before adding a further 9 in the second half.
Amy Foo and Nicola Barr were best afield for the Bombers, kicking 6 goals between them.
Congratulations to Meredith Gray on playing in her 200th game against the Wolves!
