6 wins from 8 games in Round 16 saw the NEAFL, Blues, Golds, Plats, Colts and Bombers all record much-needed victories.

5th Grade Golds: Sydney AFL Division 4

After 3 successive losses, the Golds got themselves back on the winners list with a convincing 53-point win over the Southern Power.

Tim Lay continued his goal kicking form with another 4 goals, while Paul Younan, Luke Higgins and Tom Pope were named among the best.

Outscoring the Power in every quarter, the inaccurate Golds now sit 5th, equal on points with UTS and St George.

Final Score: Sydney University 11.20 86 def. Southern Power 5.3 33.

3rd Grade Blues: Sydney AFL Division 1

7 second-half goals to 1 saw the Blues win their 2nd game in a row over the Southern Power at No.1 on Saturday.

Clint Wells booted 5 goals for the Blues, with Frank Greco, Andrew Holmes and Nick Lloyd also performing well.

The Blues now sit 6 points off top spot with just 4 games to play in the 2016 regular season.

Final Score: Sydney University 11.6 71 def. Southern Power 4.11 35.

6th Grade Plats: Sydney AFL Division 5

The Plats held off a persistent Macquarie University side to register their 4th win in their last 5 games.

Leading by 2 points at the main break, the Plats stretched their lead to 9 points at the final break, before kicking 4 goals to 1 in the last quarter to run home comfortable winners.

Pat Hoey (4 goals) and Sam Prendergast (2 goals) were a handful up forward, while Isaac Martin and Caleb St.Ather were solid down back.

Final Score: Sydney University 12.9 81 def. Macquarie University 7.10 52.

1st Grade Seniors: NEAFL

In bizarre fashion, the SUANFC NEAFL side enjoyed a 40-point win over Canberra after the match was called off at halftime due to a sinkhole forming in the centre of the ground.

The first quarter saw the Students kick 4 goals straight to open up a 8-point lead at the first break.

The Students put their foot down the second quarter, booting 4.6 to 0.4, as the teams went into the main break unaware of the problem unfolding on the oval.

After a lengthy delay, the game was called off, with the 4 points awarded to SUANFC.

Jake Derickx (4 goals), Matt Rawlinson (18 disposals), Aaron Day (15 disposals) and Tom Young (15 disposals, 1 goal) were the best for the Students, who now sit in 3rd on the NEAFL ladder.

Final Score: Sydney University 8.6 54 def. Canberra 1.8 14.

U19 Colts: Sydney AFL U19s Division 1

The Colts remain in the hunt for finals football following their 71-point win over Camden on the weekend.

Leading at every break, the Colts ran over the top of the Cats in the second half, kicking 9 goals to 1.

Lachlan Bennetts kicked 5 goals for the Colts, while Sam Lawson and Nick Bertino were named best afield.

Final Score: Sydney University 16.11 107 def. Camden 5.6 36.

4th Grade Reds: Sydney AFL Division 2

The Reds suffered their 5th loss in a row, going down to 3rd-placed North Shore by 90 points at Henson Park.

Held to just 1 goal for the first half, the Reds were unable to compete with a North Shore side looking to consolidate their spot inside the top 3.

Regulars Stephen Lloyd, Jonathan Weir and Brent Pollock were among the best for the Reds, who will be looking to bounce back this week against Randwick at No.1.

Final score: Sydney University 3.4 22 def. by North Shore 17.10 112.

2nd Grade Reserves: Sydney AFL Premier Division

The Prems were unable to make it 2 wins from 2 games against North Shore in 2016, falling by 33 points on Saturday night.

It was a close affair in the first half, with North Shore leading by just 11-points at both the quarter time and the main break.

North Shore were able to open the game up in the second half, stretching their lead to 21 points at the final break.

The Prems were unable to mount a comeback in the final quarter, conceding 4 goals to 1, as they dropped to 8th on the Premier Division ladder.

NEAFL listed Monty Krochmal, Lachlan Maples and Zac Fyffe were best afield for the Prems, alongside regulars Chris Reichman, Tom Elkington and Kyle Underwood.

Final Score: Sydney University 5.5 35 def. by North Shore 11.12 78.

Sydney University Bombers (Women’s)

The Bombers enjoyed a comfortable 114-point win over Auburn at No.1 on Saturday.

Dominating from start to finish, the Bombers well and truly boosted their percentage, with 6 different goalkickers inflicting the entirety of the damage.

Meredith Gray (5 goals) Stephanie Walker (5 goals) and Chloe Scrimshaw (3 goals) were the best for the Bombers.

Final Score: Sydney University 17.13 115 def. Auburn 0.1 1.
