The Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) experienced another very successful outing over the weekend, winning gold in the women’s 4x4km road race before the men picked up silver at the NSW Road Relay Championships in Ourimbah.

The women’s team – represented by Jenny Blundell (Bachelor of Exercise Physiology), Eliza Barton (Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary BioScience), Melinda Witchard (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) and Milly Clark (Bachelor Applied Science with Masters of Nutrition) – all SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holders, won by over 2 minutes.

The men’s team was represented by Ben Liddy, Vincent Donnadieu, Hugh Williams (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) and Russell Dessaix-Chin.

Both the men’s and women’s teams now sit atop the NSW Winter Premiership table, a first for the club. The women are currently engaged in a tight battle with Athletics East – SUAC holds a nine point lead. The SUAC men now possess a huge 37 point lead over second placed St George.

In other athletics news, SUAC’s Liam Adams took out the men’s Sydney Harbour Ten race on Sunday in a time of 29.43. Russell Dessaix Chin finished fourth and Jack Colreavy fifth. In the women’s race SUAC’s Emily Brichachek was the second female across the line, running a brisk 32 minute 10km.

This weekend SUAC athletes will compete in the Sutherland to Surf.
