The Sydney University Rockclimbing and Mountaineering Club (SURMC) is not a competitive club. Instead, it fosters the development of rock climbing as a social sport for men and women. There are opportunities for elite climbers in the club to compete in state and national events, however, there are currently no members involved in these competitions.
The annual fee to join the gym is $40. There is also an additional fee for entry to The Ledge ($10 on Wednesdays) and Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym ($14.50 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday), as well as additional discounts for hiring of equipment and 30% off the MacPac store.
SURMC runs trips on weekends to give members the opportunity to climb outdoors. Indoor climbing takes place all year round at The Ledge and the outdoor training trips during the semester, but members of the club tend to climb together socially all year round.
