Three Sydney University athletes turned in superb performances at last week’s Melbourne Track Classic and yesterday’s Waratah Series meet.

Middle-distance runner Lachlan Renshaw finished a commendable third in the 800m at the Melbourne Track Classic, behind world record holder David Rudisha and Olympic finalist Nick Symmonds, in a personal best time of 1:45.66.

The time takes Renshaw to ninth on the national all-time list.

Alix Kennedy finished fifth in the women’s discus at the same meet, throwing 46.57m.

Meanwhile, Andrew Giltrap threw 69.83m in the javelin at the Waratah Series meet at Homebush yesterday. The throw bettered his personal best by 6m and ranked him No.2 in Australia this season.
