Sydney University Boat Club (SUBC) representative Alex Purnell will be going for gold on Friday morning, as part of the Australian men’s quad at the World Junior Rowing Championships Trakai, Lithuania.
Purnell, a SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder (Bachelor Commerce/Arts), and his quad crew qualified for Friday mornings (Sydney time) final after winning last night’s heat.
The men’s quad is one of the most hotly contested events, with 24 countries competing across four heats.
SUBC’s Development Coach Al Matthews is the coach of the Australian men’s quad at the Championships, which began last night and will conclude on Sunday.
