It was another successful week on the track for Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC), with the Students cleaning up at both the Canberra and Sydney Track Classics. 

In Canberra, no less than 6 SUAC athletes won 7 events between them.

Winners included:

  • Cat Bisset 800m – 2.00
  • Nick Hough 110 hurdles 13.63
  • Rohan Browning 100m – 10.34
  • Angie Ballard 1st 100 and 400m Wheelchair, with a 2nd place in the 1500 Wheelchair
  • Alex Beck 1st 400m 45.85
  • Mackenzie Little 1st Javelin – 58.43

Other notable performances included: 

  • Bec Bennett 2nd in the women’s 400m with Annie Rubie 2rd in the same race.
  • Gen Cowie 2nd in the 400 hurdles
  • Katrina Blackett 5th in the Javelin, Sean Szalek 6th in the High Jump, Holly Campbell 7th in the 1500m and Jin Su Jung 9th in the 100m.

At the Sydney Track Classic, SUAC athletes won 4 events, including one national championship on Saturday evening.

Winners included: 

  • Jenny Blundell 5000m in 15.25, securing her 1st National title. Paige Campbell was 7th in the same race.
  • Liz Clay 100 hurdles 12.88
  • Nick Hough 110 hurdles 13.61
  • Shakti Rathore 200m (B race) in 21.58. harry Fullerton was 3rd in the same race.

Other notable performances included:

  • Catriona Bisset 2nd in the 800m running 2.01, Georgia Wassall was 7th in the same race.
  • Annie Rubie 2nd in the 300m – 37.79
  • Gen Cowie 2nd in the 400 Hurdles- 58.81
  • Obbsa Youssouf 2nd 800 ( B race)
  • Angus Armstrong was 2nd in the Pole Vault in 5.30m
  • Aiden Harvey was 3rd in the Shot Put in 18.36m.
  • Larissa Pasternatsky was 4th in the 200m in 23.68.
  • Lachie Raper was 6th in the 800m in 1.48.01

SUAC athletes will next compete at the Brisbane Track Classic in a fortnight; we look forward to more great results.
