The Universities Women’s Cricket Club (UWCC) first grade team are in second position of the Sydney Women’s Twenty/20 competition after an Emily Mifsud cameo with the bat and ball helped the girls play out a dramatic tie in Sunday’s round 11 fixture against Campbelltown-Camden.

UWCC won the toss and elected to bat first, positing a below par 6-89 with Emily Mifsud (21 off 28) the top scorer.

Campbelltown-Camden looked well placed in their chase at 2-50, however, the loss of Claire Koski (31 off 26) saw momentum shift. They lost their seven remaining wickets for 39 runs to be bowled out for 89, three balls in to the 19th over. Emily Mifsud featured again for Universities, this time with the ball, claiming 4-11 from her four overs.

In the Sydney Women’s50 over competition, UWCC hold a 15 point lead at the top of the table.

In other news, UWCC’s Alex Blackwell & Rachael Haynes will play for Australia in the Rose Bowl over the course of the next week  in a series of matches against New Zealand.
