Elite Athlete Program member Nicola Maitland has been named in the Under 23 NSW softball team ahead of the upcoming National Championships to be held later this year. She was selected in a squad of 13 girls and was named Co Captain of the team.
Nicola has been named in softball squads for NSW and Australia at junior levels for several years. Most notably she collected a bronze medal at the International Softball Federation Junior Women’s Under 19 World Championships in 2013. These prior achievements will give her the perfect experience necessary to lead her team in competition. She is a member of the North Shore Softball Association and her position is third base and outfield. Nicola is in her third year in the Elite Athlete Program at the University of Sydney and has changed degrees this year to a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Physiology.
The Championships will be held in Redlands, Queensland commencing on the 24th of April. We wish Nicola and her team all the best ahead of their upcoming competition.
