Sydney University Elite Athlete scholarship holder Nick Larkin has been selected in the Sydney Colts Under 21 team to take on Country Colts in a limited overs match at Bankstown Oval today.

Larkin, a tall and elegant right-hand batsman, has had a stellar 2010-11 season, scoring 873 runs at an average of 43.70.

“His selection is testament to the maturity of Nick in his development as a cricketer and a well-balanced young man,” Sydney University Cricket Club director of cricket, Gary Whittaker, said.

“His dedication and strong belief in his ability and his improved work ethic has shown in his results and his selection in the Sydney Colts team to play Country Colts.”

Larkin, who is studying a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Sydney, has had a season stacked full of highlights, but none more so than his match-winning partnership with Scott Henry in the First Grade Limited Overs final against Manly last Sunday.

With University hovering at 5-105, Larkin played a controlled and match-defining innings of 66 off 70 balls, including seven boundaries.

He also executed a fantastic piece of fielding to run out the Manly captain Adam Crosthwaite and take final catch of the game to secure University their first ever one day title.
