Sydney University Kendo Club has come away from the 2013 Dae Han Moo Do Kwan Kumdo Tournament with two individual champions and a team champion finish.
Competing at the 18th annual state-wide competition on Saturday in Burwood, Sydney University’s Walter Chung was crowned the men’s Dan champion and Ioana Levins the women’s Kyu champion.
Julie Tran finished second in the women’s Kyu event, while Karen Chiam and Kim Avina made it a clean sweep for Sydney University as they finished in equal third.
In the women’s Dan event Nobuko Fujito finished third.
Sydney University experienced plenty of success in the team’s events, finishing first in the women’s open team and second in the Kyu Team and Dan Team.
Minty Ma of Sydney University was awarded the Fighting Spirit Award.
