Brydens Sydney Uni Flames Captain Katie Ebzery hit double figures to help the Australian Jayco Opals take first place in their Rio test series ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Ebzery held her own alongside more experienced point guards in Leilani Mitchell and Erin Phillips as the Opals recorded victories over Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil in a busy three-day tournament.

In a confidence boosting 3 from 3 games, Ebzery continued her stunning WNBL form averaging 7.7 points, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals, with double figures in 2 out of 3 games.

The squad’s goal of an unbeaten status was made real as they finished Brazil on their home floor with a 77-67 victory.

While the test event team will be different to the final team that will contest the Rio Olympics, it proved a great opportunity to demonstrate green and gold Olympic potential, and Ebzery’s role has not gone unnoticed.
