The Sydney University Wrestling Club was established as a not-for-profit organisation in 1996 by our head coach Leonid Zaslavsky in order to promote the sport of wrestling and share his knowledge and passion of the Olympic sport.
Along with the physical and mental fitness wrestling provides, Sydney University Wrestling Club provides a sense of community and camaraderie among our 200+ active members; whether you’re coming to improve your fitness, compete on the world stage, or learn a new skill, our club welcomes everyone looking to push their boundaries and be part of a team with a shared love for the sport.
Our classes cater for both men, women, and all levels of experience, and members are not obligated to participate in anything beyond what they are comfortable with. Our training typically starts with a warm-up, followed by focused instruction where participants learn and practice various wrestling techniques, such as takedowns and defensive maneuvers. The session ends with live rounds of wrestling, offering members a chance to apply their skills in real-time to enhance technical proficiency and also boost physical fitness.
Our focus is not just on competition but on building lifelong skills and an appreciation for the art and discipline of wrestling.
