The Sydney University Handball Club (SUHC) have turned their attention to once again winning the Oceania Champions Cup after competing as one of the eight club teams at the International Handball Federation (IHF) SuperGlobe tournament in Doha, Qatar.

Competing against the world’s best club teams (Sydney Uni became the first Australian handball club team to qualify for the SuperGlobe after winning Oceania Champions Cup in Tahiti) Sydney Uni were defeated twice by Saudi Arabian champions Mudhar KSA, once by tournament hosts AL-SADD QATAR, and finally by 2011 SuperGlobe defending champions THW Kiel, a team that spends $14 million per year on player wages.

Despite the four losses SUHC were extremely competitive and proved their worth at the Super Globe, stepping up to the speed and pressure of international club fixtures.

Sydney Uni’s next challenge is preparing to defend their Oceania Champions Cup title after once again qualifying as Premiers of the NSW Handball League. Should Sydney Uni defend their Oceania Champions Cup title they will earn a place at the 2013 Super Globe.
