Sydney University Football Club (SUFC) has announced the appointment of David Haigh as the SUFC General Manager.

David, a past player at the Club from 2002-09, played in and captained numerous premiership winning teams and on his retirement remained involved at the Club coaching the Colts program to premiership success.

David has a wealth of experience in management, rugby and SUFC.

David completed his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with honours at the University of Sydney and worked for six years in engineering design, management and business development. Following a two year period playing rugby professionally in Japan, David returned to Sydney and SUFC as a coach for the Club’s 1st Colts team. In 2012, David assumed the full-time Director of Colts role at SUFC and in 2015 also assumed the additional role of the Director of Rugby Operations whilst continuing to coach the 1st Colts team to premiership success.

David says “I am very excited to take up this position at a club I am deeply passionate about. This is a unique time for SUFC as our level of success over the past fifteen years has been exceptional, yet we also understand the Club must continue to evolve and strive to improve upon our successful foundations.”

David succeeds Hannah Catchpole, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Otago Racing Club, New Zealand. SUFC is delighted when our players are promoted to representative teams and also proud of its administrators and coaches being similarly rewarded with higher honours. We wish Hannah all the best in her new role and thank her for her tireless dedication and enormous contribution to the Club over the last two years.

David commences his new position immediately and the Club wishes him every success in his new position. He will work closely with Sarah Dill-Macky, who continues in her position as Operations Manager, in charge of Marketing, Events and Administration.
