Sydney University wrapped up the Sydney Women’s Hockey Metropolitan League season with four of the six titles on offer.

The Students’ First Grade side accounted for Northern District Strikers 3-nil at the Olympic Park Hockey complex on Sunday.

Having gone through the shortened nine-round season proper undefeated, Sydney University won a nail-biting shoot-out 5-3 to edge out UNSW in their semi-final after the sides were locked a 1-all when the final whistle sounded.

That earned them a grand final berth against the Strikers and they proved too strong to claim the title.

Striker Alice Arnott topped the goalscoring for the season, finishing with 11.

Sydney University also claimed the Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade titles for 2020, with Thirds defeating UNSW 3-1 in the season decider and Fourths  accounting Glebe 1-nil.

Fifth Grade won a penalty shoot-out 3-2 to claim the 2020 title after they were drawn 2-all with St George when the final whistle sounded.

Sydney University Second Grade lost their grand final 2-1 to Macquarie University, while Sixth Grade missed out on a finals berth after finishing sixth at the end of the season proper.
