 The Sydney Uni Wheelchair Flames have had an excellent start to the 2010 Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League (WNWBL), finishing round 1 in first place.

Over the weekend’s competition the Flames played a total 4 games and were victorious in three of them.


“It’s an exhilarating time for women’s basketball in NSW and women’s sport in general. Sydney Uni is proud to support both the only WNBL team and the leading WNWBL team in NSW,” said SUSF President Bruce Ross.


The Flames defeated the Goudkamp Gladiators 66-21, the Western Stars 56-42, and the Victorian Dandenong Rangers 68-34, only to be defeated by the Western Stars in their final game 60-44.


After a massive weekend Flames captain Sarah Stewart leads the competition in total rebounds, with an outstanding 53 rebounds over 4 games. And she sits second on the ladder for points scored with an average of 20.5 points per game.
