The resurgent Southern Design Sydney Uni Flames will come up against a buoyant Townsville Fire on Saturday night at the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre.

The Flames have won three of their past four games, while the Fire are coming off the back of an upset four point win over the WNBL leaders the Bendigo Spirit to now sit in fourth spot.

The girls from Sydney Uni will need to rebound and defend to the best of their ability, as Jess Foley, Mia Newley and US imports Jessica Adair and Kayla Standish loom as legitimate offensive weapons for the Fire.

Flames guard Jaimee Kennedy has been playing some great basketball this season and her defence on the Townsville shooters will be critical.

Ellie Manou played well in Melbourne, and along with Tayla Roberts and Ellyce Ironmonger, their defence and rebounding against WNBA player Jessica Adair, and team mates Kayla Standish and Olivia Thompson could well decide the game.

In offense, the Flames will once again look to form players Katie-Rae Ebzery, Alicia Poto and April Sykes to lead the way, while Rohanee Cox’s all-round game will need to continue to be first class.

Come out and support the Flames against the Townsville Fire on Saturday night at the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre (SUSAC).

Tickets are on sale from 6pm on the night and tipoff is at 7pm.

Purchase an adult ticket to the Fire game and you will also receive free entry to the January 5 home game against the Dandenong Rangers – that’s just $10 for two games.

You can also support the Flames on Twitter @SydUniFlames or Facebook Sydney Uni Flames WNBL.
